With more than 30 years' experience at three
major newspapers, I continue to write for The Philadelphia Inquirer and other publications.

In an era of niche specialization, I continue to be a generalist, working with a wide variety of topics.

Recent Inquirer stories include pieces about:

• The invasion of bedrooms and sleep by electronic gadgets.
• A profile of an entrepreneur who made millions in the credit card industry and turned that knowledge into a way to sign needy senior citizens up for government benefits.
• How medical students have formed a cappella choirs to ease the tension of their studies and help patients.

Assignments I have had in the newspaper business have included:

• Writing about politics, civil rights, state government and the legislature in North Carolina for The Charlotte Observer.
• Writing about labor and the workplace for the Baltimore Sun.
• Writing about the court system and higher education for The Philadelphia Inquirer.
• Serving as an editor in national, foreign and local news for the Philadelphia Inquirer.
• Serving as recruiter and internship director at The Philadelphia Inquirer. Designed and ran the largest post-graduate newspaper internship program in the country.
